Presented by: Pete Dulany*** One of the primary benefits of using technology in the classroom is differentiation. Students that need a little extra time to watch a video, look up a definition, or re-read an assignment can easily do so, without affecting the rest of the classroom. Once teachers show their students these tools, students become more independent and confident in their work, which leads to deeper understanding of lesson content. ● Google Dictionary - double click on any word in a web browser to have it defined and read to you. ● Calculator (and MyScript iOS app) - quick and easy drop-down useful for students that require access to a calculator for their IEP. ● Read Aloud / Screenshot Reader / Textshot PDF Reader - turn a PDF or website into something that can be read back to students. Useful for both web browsing AND after students compose a Google Doc where the content should be read back to them so they can hear their own thoughts and writing. ● TLDR (Too long, didn’t read) - Create a short summary of any webpage or article. ● Adaptations for popular tools like Kahoot! - what do you do when students can’t read or respond that fast? Are there alternatives? (Of course, there are!)
