In this webinar, there will be a discussion of how verbal prompts are often overused and strategies we can use to avoid that. This session will provide tips and strategies designed to increase student engagement while at the same time helping to reduce inappropriate classroom behavior. These specific areas will be covered: 1) fading of prompts 2) tips on how to reduce confusion for students with autism 3) communicating expectations, and 4) managing transitions. ****** Dr. James Kirk is an associate professor in the Department of Special Education at Winona State University. His background includes teaching k-12 students with autism and emotional behavioral disorders. He earned his doctorate at the University of Iowa.
