In contemporary education the skills of reading and writing continue to be critical areas of need for many students, whether they receive special education services or not. Shrinking budgets and continuous fiscal concerns make it a challenge for educational institutions to acquire and implement tools with a high price tag with students. This webinar will discuss a variety of free (or nearly free) tools that educators can immediately implement to help students achieve reading and writing goals. Participants in this workshop will learn and discuss proven tools and strategies to help structure the writing process, practice reading fluency, teach spelling, and improve overall literacy. Philosophies behind the methodologies for each tool and strategy will be discussed. This webinar will be conducted in a Jeopardy-style format where participants will be encouraged to play along by submitting answers to the questions. Participants can choose to test their knowledge by entering answers in the chat or decide to take a more passive role by simply experiencing the content. Every participant will find themselves a winner by learning how to help support students in becoming better readers and writers. ****Presented by Chris Bugaj, SLP, Assistive Technology Specialist, Loudoun County Public School
